The gears are crucial in the workings of every transmission, including automatic transmissions. In automatic transmissions, the main gears and the planetary gears work together to put the car in a position for forward or reverse motion. In manual transmissions, the clutch and clutch plate allow you to change the gears using a gearshift to put the car in one of the forward gears or in reverse. At Tim’s Performance Services, we can check to make sure all your gears are working as they should. We fix your car if your gears do not shift properly and smoothly in an automatic transmission, or when you use the gearshift in a manual transmission. The manual transmission’s gear oil needs to be changed regularly to keep out sludge and metal shavings. Automatic transmissions, too, need their transmission fluid changed on a routine basis, along with the filter.

Automatic transmissions are more complex than manual transmissions by their nature, and more can go wrong.
